Spay It Forward

Spay it Forward Cannon County (SIFCC) was born in 2021. The charity was organized by Kimberly Foster Koon. Kim has lived in Cannon County all her life and has rescued animals since she was very young. She noticed as she rescued kittens year after year that the same individuals needed help. "We cannot afford to have our cat spayed", was the answer given when she asked why the cat was allowed to continue having kittens. This is when the realization that a spay and neuter program for the community was needed.

The concept of "paying it forward" was the idea. "If you have been blessed enough to help someone spay or neuter their pet, make a donation and we will find the need".... SPAY IT FORWARD CANNON COUNTY WAS BORN! Rural Cannon County does not have an animal shelter in place, so the prevention of overpopulation is key. We applied for 501c3 status in October 2021 and was approved.

SIFCC helps with spaying and neutering individual's cats by providing financial resources or finding resources. We prioritize individuals that may not be able to afford the procedure without help. We also have an adoption program and work with adoption partners to save as many as we can. We provided some kind of service (Spay/neuter, rescue, rescue placement) to over 460 cats in Cannon County from January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2022.

We also believe in helping our community and feral cats. We have an active community/feral cat program that involves Trap, Neuter, Release (TNR). TNR is the best way to control population, prevent disease, and stop suffering in cat colonies.
